What kind of fundraiser can I do to raise $36,000 in just a few months? This is important?

I live in Massachusetts. My Uncle lives in South Carolina. He has recently been diagnosed with cancer. They started chemo treatments and he had a really bad reaction to it.

There is a new treatment that seems to be working very well in Mexico but it is illegal in the U.S. Doctors are saying that he needs to fly down there to get this treatment, otherwise he will have only 2 years to live.
He needs $36,000 to make the trip down there. What kind of fundraiser can my family and I do to raise this money?

Thank you for your question and best wishes to your uncle.
I would suggest that you hold a series of fundraising functions such as quiz nights, auctions etc. You might also want to look at holding a raffle. If you have all of your hopes relying on one fundraiser, you will have problems if you don’t meet the target.
You might also want to keep local media aware of your uncle’s situation. That will help with fundraising.

can mex doctors do it cheaper than 36K USD ?
chemo is rough / no matter how mild or strong.
i do not know current treatment in mex / but when you are done with US I have heard you go to Europe ? newest drugs are considered experimental.
You may try to call MAYO clinic , Rochester MN. They are quite helpful / ask them for research studies for cancer treatment . They are sometimes running trials of similar programs we are slower to get here ? If it’s legal in MEX .. may be illegal here as gold standard of Treatement … BUT mAY BE CONSIDERED or Classified as RESEARCH TRIAL form of treatment. They are usually given free of charge / and you are sometimes reimbursed travel expenses. Thee nursing supervisors of the department are excellent .. can hook you up to right people . I have also heard John Hopkins may be better than MAYO.
I believe the PRes. Bush has DR in TEXAS. Not sure what kind you need but wish you best.
RE FUNDRAISER .. maybe ask your banker ? you will need account for sure . has he set up for other organizations. can he share references / names of other organizations.
ask your heads of churches / foundations at hospitals … who has done it.
you need a model / maybe website ? On a small scale .. you sometimes see cheerleaders give car washes in summer . Bake sales .. maybe the charity auction. business donates items / raffled or auctioned off at church/ school auditorium.
Ask Barak Obama … he’s raising money fast. He does respond to email too.
media / newspaper / your press could write about feature story / it’s free advertisement for you …
you need one local story reporter local newspaper… it goes national and then they place it international …. the doctors get interested in media attention / exposure begin to make offers to help for free.
the largest obese man was in MEXICO .. the doctors offered from arround the world various treatments/ surgeries. he story did catch on through local news … went national in MEX and then was placed INTERNATIONAL. his offers poured in.
I would go in PERSON .. to newspaper ask for a journalist. PRESS person. you will meet them anytime anywhere / beg / make your case for assistance.

You should build a website and ask for donations, a lot of people will be more than happy to give you donations. And maybe you should check the churchs in your community.
