My friend had a freak accident and has thousands of dollars worth of medical bills to pay off. He does not have medical insurance, so I was trying to figure out how to generally set up a fundraiser/benefit. Thank You in advance for your response. This means a lot to me.

Go to the media…. they soak that stuff up. They’ll even donate themselves.
Buy some raffle tickets and sell them. See if local companies will donate prizes and add a monetary value. See if you can round up some people to have a bike run on there motorcycles and sell tickets and ask for donations.
Try a benefit, my friends cousin died and they passed out fliers all over town with his families situation after accident and his picture. It was basically a big bash with music and a cookout. A lot of planning went into it but everything was donated by various people and churches and they set up buckets in gas stations for people to put quarters and such in. All the money they rose went to help his family.
Organize a big party event with a raffle theme that will get lots of free publicity. One that always works well is cow chip bingo where you raffle off squares on a field. The winning square is the one where a cow answers nature’s call!
It’s lots of fun, pretty easy to organize, and you can add all sorts of extra fundraising activities like selling food and drinks, doing silent auctions of donated items, live auctions of big stuff, etc.
Helps to have a live band perform and also to have a food theme like a pig roast or barbecue.
You can read about one here:
They also have lots of other fundraising event ideas:
Good luck!
